Utilities information

 

Electricity

  • The meter for your flat is located outside your front door in a small box accessed with a triangular meter key. Please take a reading upon your occupation to prevent being billed for charges not related to your consumption.
  • Many flats here are supplied by Npower. www.npower.com 0845 070 4850.
  • Upon moving out, please take final reading and provide your electricity provider with this reading to prevent extra charges from being billed to you.

 

Electricity Card meters – the nearest supplier for electricity credit is the newsagent based on Holloway Head, opposite Blucher Street, accessed easily from the Mailbox exit adjacent to Hugo Boss.

Electricity runs on Economy 7. This is a dual tariff system.

Peak use is for daytimes – approx. 7.30am—12.30pm

Off-peak use is overnight – approx. 12.30am—7.30am (this is the cheaper time to use it)

 


Water

Water meters

If you have a water meter (a black box with dial under the kitchen sink) provide Severn Trent Water when you move in / out of your flat.


Council tax

You need to notify Birmingham City Council for Residence Tax purposes Tel: 0121 303 1113. Further information about charges, exemptions in multiple languages can be found via www.birmingham.gov.uk

Their office is in Waterloo Street B2.

Full-time students are exempt from Council Tax on the production of original stamped documents.


TV reception | Satellite TV | SKY

Terrestrial channels 1-5 are received here via the digital TV sockets in your flat. Freeview is only presently available within Kings Court.

You can obtain the equivalent of Freeview channels via Freesat using a Sky box. You will need to contact Sky to arrange the purchase of the card and Sky box.

Alternatively, you can order a subscription to Sky via our communal suppliers DAS – 01623 418 000.

This involves a monthly cost depending on the channels you subscribe to.

 

If there is a fault with receiving Terrestrial TV Channels 1—5, please contact KWB who will arrange for an aerial engineer to attend. Call out charges apply. If the fault is within your flat only, this charge will be billed directly to you. If the fault is found to be communal, these will be covered via the service charge.


Post Box

The nearest post box is situated to the side of the Mailbox – adjacent to Hugo Boss


Recycling

We currently have some recycling facilities on-site

  • General recycling bins – For plastic bottles, mixed glass, food tins and drinks cans.
  • Paper recycling – For paper and card (not envelopes) – please shred anything confidential to prevent identity fraud

General waste

Please try to ensure you have squashed down large items to minimise space used in the communal bins.

Please do not place anything outside of the communal bins to ensure the estate remains tidy.
